The Greenstyle Jogger Sew Along is coming!! I have been having so much fun sewing joggers over the past several weeks and catching all the fun on video for you. I wanted to give you a heads up today so you can prepare and have the supplies you need ready. I also have all the details on prizes and discounts!
I am a serious joggers fan. I have at least a dozen pairs of them and love to make them for my husband and daughter as well. I can dress them up, relax in them, or head to the gym. A big part of how they work in my closet really depends on styling, fabric choice, and fit.
The last time I blogged about the Brassie joggers I talked about styling. For this sew along, we are going to work on getting the fit right together and making joggers (for ourselves or a friend!) that will feel and look great to wear!
Mark Your Calender
We will be sewing the Greenstyle Iron Joggers* and the Brassie Joggers* from October 15th-19th. Here is a rough outline of what we will be doing each day:
Day 1 – Print your pattern, make adjustments, cut out your fabric.
Day 2 – Sew all the pockets!
Day 3 – Sew the main body – inseam, rise, and outseam
Day 4 – Add the waistband and sew cuffs or hem
Day 5 – Catch up or make another pair and show off your work!
I will have a video each day to show you that day’s tasks. On Day 1, I will talk more about fabric choice, the difference in the two patterns, and show you how I make my petite adjustments to the pattern. If you are short or ever need to grade patterns, this is the video you don’t want to miss.
Supplies
- Knit fabric. You will need fabric with at least 25% stretch. See pattern for details on how much fabric to buy for the style and size you are making. Look for athletic brushed poly, supplex, French terry, sweatshirting, ponte, double brushed poly, or cotton lycra. I used the brushed athletic performance from Greenstyle for the purple and charcoal pairs, the supplex from The Styled Magnolia for my floral pair, and a cotton lycra for my daughter’s pair. I also made my husband a non-cuffed version with a thick sweatshirt fabric. You will need a lighterweight fabric with more spandex for the cuffs and waistband if you use a thick sweatshirt or French terry fabric.
- Zippered pocket options only – You will need 1/4 yard of Lightweight woven fabric and 6 inch zippers (up to 4, depending on how many zippered pockets you plan to do). I used this zipper and cut it down to the size I needed. Wawak has the best zipper prices!
- 1/4 inch grommets, also known as eyelets. These are optional. I also show how to do buttonholes instead. I use this tool to set the grommets and use these grommets.
- A drawstring or cording (also optional). I bought mine in the cording section at Joann.
- Wonder tape and lightweight fusible interfacing.
- Iron Joggers only: 2 inch wide waistband elastic the length of your low waist (where the pants are worn) minus 1 inch. I used this one and this one.
- Sewing machine. You can sew the entire project on your sewing machine with a stretch needle and a stretch stitch. Optional: serger and coverstitch
- Rotary cutter and mat, iron, ironing board, scissors, and clips or pins
Discounts
Our sponsors for this sew along are Greenstyle Creations and The Styled Magnolia. Both of the patterns we are sewing are from Greenstyle, and I am slightly obsessed with the fabric that BOTH of them offer. You absolutely cannot beat the gorgeous prints and quality of fabric, and so I am so excited that they are sponsoring.
You can grab the Iron Joggers Pattern HERE and the Brassie Joggers Pattern HERE*. Use code JoggerSAL for 25% off both patterns through October 19th.
Use code GSOCTSEW for 10% off retail fabric at The Styled Magnolia from today through October 15th. Their cotton French terry, athletic brushed poly, and supplex fabric bases make great joggers.
