Summer is in full swing, and it is time to sew tank tops!!! Do you like sew alongs, challenges, and sewing with your internet besties? Me too… So, join me! I am hosting “The Great Tank Sew Along” starting July 15th. Keep reading so you can be prepared for all the fun!

The Great Tank Sew Along

The Details

The Fun: The Great Tank Sew Along aka #sewallthetanks

Dates: Monday, July 15th through the 21st

Sponsors: Greenstyle Creations and So Sew English

Prizes: A Free Greenstyle Pattern and a $50 gift card to So Sew English

How to Participate: Sew any Greenstyle Tank Top Pattern

The Fine Print: The tank top you make does not have to be for yourself. You can sew for any adult or any child. You can use any fabric you want and sew as many tanks as you want. Bonus points if you use fabric from So Sew English.

You can participate on Facebook or Instagram (or both!).

If you post a photo on Instagram of your finished tank that you made with a Greenstyle pattern, use the hashtag #sewallthetanks and tag and follow me @thesharonaguilar so I don’t miss your post and also tag and follow the Greenstyle account @greenstylecreations so that Angelyn doesn’t miss your post as well. That will count as one entry!

If you are on Facebook, join the Greenstyle Facebook group, and find my post for that day, and comment on my post with your finished tank. My posts will start with Day 1, Day 2, etc… and I will use the words “The Great Tank Sew Along” and the hashtag #sewallthetanks. Hopefully, the algorithm is nice to us, and you will see my post so you can enter! Your comment on Facebook will also count as 1 entry.

When you finish sewing your tank top for you (and maybe also for someone you love!), you may do this:

The Schedule

This Sew Along will run a little different than a typical sew along. It is the summer, and I am feeling a bit more relaxed, so I won’t have a daily task or assignment for you besides #sewallthetanks. I will be posting a tank everyday with some video support, blog post, or some kind of helpful tips. If you are on IG, I will put as much as I can in stories, but don’t worry if you don’t catch the stories before they are gone, I will also upload any video support I have to YouTube and the blogposts will stay on my blog so you can access both at any time.

For those of you who are planners, here is my rough plan for my daily posts.

  1. Monday, July 15th  – Havana Tank with Adjustable Straps and Straight Back
  2. Tuesday, July 16th  – Havana Peplum Top
  3. Wednesday, July 17th  – Lacy Slope Tank with Binding
  4. Thursday, July 18th – Muscle Up Tank with Bands
  5. Friday, July 19th- Muscle Up Tank with Hood and Buttonholes
  6. Saturday, July 20th – Staple Tank with Binding
  7. Sunday, July 21st – Free Kids Slope Tank with Bands

I will have lots of links and support for you each day so you can hopefully master any techniques that have held you back in perfecting your tank top sewing skills. I also hope that you play along and support all the other fellow seamstresses who are sewing with us by following #sewallthetanks on IG or by interacting with the tank posts you see on Facebook. I think my favorite part of a sew along is the community feel it gives.

Can you tell that I am excited?!

You can see all my previously blogged about Greenstyle tanks HERE, and I can’t wait to show you all the ones I have been making to prepare for the sew along!!

Now, it is time to get ready!! Grab your patterns, print, tape, get your fabric, and meet me back on July 15th!!

Do you use the same stretch chiffon for the trim? What knit did you use for the waistband?

    Sharon Aguilar · July 14, 2019 at 4:50 pm

For the waistband, I used a stretchy athletic knit scrap that I had. For the trim, I used a stretch woven from the Fabric Fairy because it was the only black I had on hand, but I have definitely used and recommend the Joann’s stretch chiffon as trim when they have the solid color that I need in stock.
