Happy Saturday, friends, and welcome to Day 6 of our week of #sewallthetanks. I hope you are enjoying the Great Tank Sew Along as much as I am! I feel like I can never have enough tank tops (thanks to the Texas heat!) so this Sew Along was just what I needed, and I hope you feel the same way too!

Today, we are sewing the Greenstyle Staple tank. Just like the name says, this tank is a staple for me. I seem to really notice textures, and I tend to grab the clothes first that don’t shift around and that I don’t think about when I wear them. This is exactly this tank. I can wear one night and day and feel so comfortable!

Today’s Videos

Do you want to see me sew the Staple tank? Here is a video where I sew one with double fold binding. Here is a video where I sew one with single fold binding. Which method do you prefer? I think my opinion would change if I used a coverstitch, especially one with a binder attachment, but since I am using a regular home sewing machine and a serger, I still prefer the double fold method.

Fabric and Pattern Modifications

I used double brushed polyester for my large scale floral tank. On my lavender tank, I used a poly rayon jersey fabric. On the DBP tank, I used the Staple pattern without any adjustments. However, the lavender jersey did not have much vertical stretch  and the horizontal stretch wasn’t quite 75% like the pattern requires so I mashed the Staple tank with the Lille from the armscye down so that I could have just a little more ease to accommodate the different fabric. Can you tell? The difference is slight, but I have a little more wiggle room in the Lille body than I do the staple.

Sizing and Bust Adjustments

I made an XXS based on measurements, and as you can see I do not have a large bust, so I did not need to adjust the pattern. If you have a full bust that is more than 3 inches larger than your overbust, you may need to do a full bust adjustment. Here is a tutorial that Brenda (another admin in the Greenstyle group) uses when she performs a full bust adjustment.
