It is Favorite’s Week at Greenstyle Creations for the admin and staff, and I am excited to join in! Today’s post will have a giveaway so stay tuned until the end so you can enter to win! If you want to skip around, this is what today’s post will contain: (1) my favorite pattern and SALE, (2) the Brassie joggers I made to go with it, (3) the Giveaway, and (4) Random Life.

And the Winner Is…

Decisions, decisions, decisions… I have had the privilege of adminning for Greenstyle for about a year and a half now and have been sewing Greenstyle patterns since I was first introduced to the online world of PDF sewing patterns a little over four years ago! This means I have scores of Greenstyle clothes in my closet, and it also means that it was pretty stinking hard to decide which pattern is my favorite!!

Without much more preamble… let’s get down to it: For (today’s) favorite, I chose the Studio to Street top!!

The Pattern Details

The Studio to Street is a dolman style top that has multiple neckline options (front crew or V neck and back crew or V neck) as well as multiple hem options (crop, mid, sloped hem, or a split hem). It has lots of ease in the body with fitted sleeves.

I made the V neck on this one and love how crisp it turned out!

I cut the hemline at the straight line that is indicated on the pattern for the split hem band, but I did not use the hem band. This makes a more modest crop for me than the cropped view in the pattern.

I used a super soft and stretchy mauve brushed sweater knit that I bought from Knitpop*. When I make this pattern with fabric that has less stretch (like French terry), I size the sleeves up so that they aren’t too tight. Fabric like rayon spandex and sweater knits, though, are perfect, and I make my measured size.

The Studio to Street* pattern is ON SALE today only for 40% off!!

I need to make several more of these tops, so I am planning on doing a sew along for it! I think it is such a closet staple and is also a pretty quick sew!

Those Brassie Joggers, Though

If you have followed my blog for long, you may know that my favorite pattern has ALWAYS been the Brassie joggers*. It was my first Greenstyle pattern and is probably the comfiest thing that I own. Even though I did not pick them as my favorite this year, I still made a pair to go with my Studio to Street top for this post. When I was going back and forth in my head as to which pattern I picked, I landed on the Studio to Street because the Brassies can’t be my only favorite and the only thing that I talk about on my blog, and in any event, I can’t wear them topless 🙂 so I decided to pick my favorite TOP pattern for today’s post.

I used this flight supplex in deep violet for these joggers, and chose the midrise option on the pattern. If you want more details on sewing the Brassies, I have a full sew along for them HERE.

Giveaway

To make favorites week even more fun, I am giving away one Greenstyle pattern for FREE! To enter, just leave me a comment on this blogpost telling me something, anything that is your FAVORITE. It can be your favorite style, your favorite food, your favorite pattern, your favorite source of sewing inspiration, your favorite TV show, your favorite book, your favorite color… well, anything you consider your favorite! I will leave the giveaway open until 8 am CST on January 23rd and then will pick a winner at random from those who comment.  For extra entries, you can comment on my Facebook post in Greenstyle’s Facebook group.

Thanks for stopping by today! I would love to stay connected with you. Find me on Instagram! If you want to take a look into the things that inspire me, you can follow me on Pinterest. You may also follow my blog with Bloglovin.

Random Life

I got braces!! I turn 38 next month so I feel a little old for this, but I am so glad to be on the path to straighter teeth. I really underestimated how painful the first few days would be! I am working on my confidence with smiling and talking in them. I have figured out that eating is not so bad if I cut everything really small and keep my teeth clean.

The initial plan was for me to do Invisalign, but after analyzing the images of my jawline and teeth, the orthodontist says he needs to adjust my bite, which he can only do with braces. Ugh. So, here we are 🙂

Did any of my readers having braces as an adult?

I am still enjoying audiobooks so much. I asked my Instagram friends who else likes to listen to audiobooks and was excited to see I am totally not alone! This week I have been listening to Ken Follett’s Fall of Giants, which is about World War I. I have found it harder to get into than the last book I enjoyed by him – Pillar of Fire. I am only about 1/3 of the way in to this one, though, and I am sure I will finish it.

Last week I finished my first Jodi Picoult book, Mercy. It was OK. (Spoiler alert) I really didn’t like the affair the main character had in the book and just was bored by it and found it so unnecessary and frustrating how he treated his wife, and she just put up with it. She did sell all his belongings in a garage sale when she found out so that was a very short highlight to the book. He still continued to lie to her and just stayed with her because his mistress left him. There is much more exciting fiction out there IMO.

I think I need a good legal thriller next because the only part of Mercy  that kept me listening was the murder trial.

My favorite book series is Outlander. If you haven’t yet you should listen to the Outlander Audiobooks narrated by Davina Porter. She’s FABULOUS

    Sharon Aguilar · January 23, 2020 at 12:25 pm

Mine is too!! I have listened to the audiobooks once, but I want to go back and listen again. I am seriously missing them so much. I also can’t wait for book 9 to come out this year!! I absolutely agree that Davina Porter was fabulous in them!

My favourite food is anything Thai as it takes me back to our fabulous honeymoon

    Sharon Aguilar · January 23, 2020 at 12:26 pm

I LOVE Thai food as well. I think my favorite dish is red curry chicken! Yum!! I have never been to Thailand, though. It sounds like you had a wonderful honeymoon there!! I would love to go one day!

Lindsay · January 22, 2020 at 1:25 pm

My favorite thing is when my kids ask me to sew something for them!!

Allyson Chaffey · January 22, 2020 at 11:58 am

My favorite time of day is the early morning. I didn’t used to be a morning person, but now I have a 6-month old, so that early morning is when I can have some time to do whatever my heart desires without being called to help her. Not that I mind helping her! But sewing and my Cricut have some sharp tools 😬

Allison Rogers · January 22, 2020 at 11:44 am

Chocolate cake is another favorite of mine. I wish I could eat it daily lol

Ingrid Mohr · January 22, 2020 at 9:58 am

I never had braces but our daughter did. The end result is worth the pain. And it “too shall pass”!
Your top is lovely! My favourite GS pattern is the Brassies.

my favorite downtime activity – reading, miss getting to do it more

Sharla Green · January 22, 2020 at 9:26 am

Love these patterns, especially those pants— they look so comfy! I’m a firm believer in only wearing comfortable clothes. 🙂 My favorite book so far this year is The Institute by Stephen King.

Kathy · January 22, 2020 at 9:10 am

I just found you and love your outfit. I will be searching the store to find something to be my favorite pattern. My favorite thing is sewing.

Elizabeth encarnacion · January 22, 2020 at 9:07 am

I’m thinking of jumping into sewing selfishly for myself. This top looks like it might be a fun thing to start with I’m my favorite color purple.

Elise · January 22, 2020 at 9:05 am

One of my fave desserts (I definitely can’t pick just one!) is cream puffs!

brenda · January 22, 2020 at 9:04 am

The time will go quick with braces and you will be happy you did it. My favorite GreenStyles pattern would have to be the strides, then the Brassie

Diane · January 22, 2020 at 8:45 am

Love your Studio to Street. I have the pattern but haven’t made it yet. I get inspired by your makes so now I want to skip forward to making one of these. My favorite author (at least currently) is Daniel Silva.

Victoria L Beppler · January 22, 2020 at 8:42 am

The Studio to Street top is my fave! I’ve also been loving audiobooks lately. I finished the Guernsey Literary and Potato Peel Pie Society last week (also a great Netflix flick!) and I’m on Book 2 in the Crazy Rich Asians series.

Samantha · January 22, 2020 at 8:41 am

What a lovely combo, I love that pink sweater knit and it fits perfect with those Brassies. I only had braces as a kid so can’t help, it’s a bit of a bummer you can’t do invisalign, my son has them and my neighbor -adult just had them and loved them. Maybe get a second opinion. As for favorites, I can’t go past floral or pastel colors.

Kathleen · January 22, 2020 at 8:40 am

My favorite book is the Bible (and I enjoy listening to it read to me via a bible app :).
I also enjoy audiobooks, but have been frustrated with audible so I haven’t listened to many.

Margie Craighead · January 22, 2020 at 8:29 am

I’m anxious to try the Studio to Street top, thanks for choosing 5th is as your favorite top. I love books…turning the page, the smell of ink and paper, and getting lost in the plot.

Janai · January 22, 2020 at 8:22 am

I’ve never had braces but as an adult, I’ve strongly considered getting them! I hope you get used to yours quickly. I love reading! I actually won’t start a book unless I know I have some time to get lost in it because that’s exactly what happens. 🤣 A good book just comes to life annnnd then I’m sad when it’s finished. Lol

Bernice v · January 22, 2020 at 8:19 am

This outfit is so good!!! I need to make both. 😊 Favorite veggie is kale! My mom had braces at 42 and said it hurt so much. I’ve never had braces but my teeth needs them.

Lrain · January 22, 2020 at 8:19 am

Favourite room in the house… sewing room ❤️
I love your sew alongs.

Amy · January 22, 2020 at 8:19 am

My favorite food if ice cream, and I’d love to make a pair of these joggers. They look extra cozy!

Amy · January 22, 2020 at 8:18 am

Love your outfit! My favorite season is not winter! My favorite season is spring and hoping it comes soon. 😁

Britney McGee · January 22, 2020 at 8:14 am

Gah! Now I need both of these patterns 😍 my favorite color is purple

Linette G · January 22, 2020 at 8:13 am

My favorite thing to sew is cosplay costumes for me and my family. I have used some of greenstyle patterns to help with this 🙂

Lin · January 22, 2020 at 8:11 am

I never even seen this pattern before but the fabric you used gives it a different look. I love it so more I’ll have to purchase. My favorite thing right now is listening to audible. I love to read but never have the time so I love putting a good audible book on while getting some sewing done.

Beal · January 21, 2020 at 11:03 pm

Yes, I had braces as an adult (as well as a teenager). Definitely painful at first! But it got better. I prefer regular books because they’re much easier to skim when there are boring parts, but audio books are good on long car drives. My favorite color is red.

Alison · January 21, 2020 at 10:46 pm

I have made both the Studio to Street top and the Brassie Joggers. Yours turned out great. I like the sweater fabric you used. A new favourite drink for me is Peppermint Crio Bru. Crio Bru is cocoa beans that you brew like coffee. I’m not a coffee drinker but I am a chocolate lover and I am loving Crio Bru.

Emilie · January 21, 2020 at 9:04 pm

My favorite pattern from GreenStyle is the north shore. Although I love them all, that one is a bathing suit! How many people make their own!
Right now I’m listening to Dr Phil’s podcast. Interesting stories, or I read any medical thrillers. I guess you can’t take the hospital out of the girl!

Shasta Garland · January 21, 2020 at 8:27 pm

I have been really wanting to try the Studio to Street top, and I am going to sew up the Brassies tomorrow. My favorite food is sauerkraut!
