Happy Thanksgiving friends! Today I am kicking off a 3 day spree of Greenstyle sewing freebies to celebrate. Today’s freebie is a pattern add on, and it just turned up the notch on one of my favorite patterns.

The Greenstyle Elevate is a crop top and overlay. I originally blogged about the pattern here if you want to see the many I already have made!

The hood add on for the overlay makes the perfect hoodie!!

I used a charcoal bamboo cotton lycra french terry from The Fabric Fairy. It is incredibly soft and feels good to wear.

The pattern has the option to finish the edges of the front and hood with bands, binding, or to hem. I think this gives you great control over how much coverage you want the front to have. Since I chose to hem mine, it is a little more open. If you do a band, it will be more closed. If you make the band wider than the pattern directs, it will be even more closed.

You also could tack it down if you want to be more discreet, but I like to wear mine with a shirt underneath. I made this just a few weeks ago and have worn it so many times since. I am a breastfeeding mama and wear it over a tank top and easily nurse in it all day!

The bottom of the top is finished with a band or a hem. I initially chose the hem option but changed my mind after making it because the hem just hung out too far in the front because this fabric is more structured than drapy. I think it would work better to just hem in a fabric that is more fluid.

The only adjustment I made to the pattern is to shorten my sleeve one inch at the lengthen/shorten line. They are still long enough to pull over my hands when I get cold, and I like that!

I decided to pair my new hoodie with a pair of Super G tights* I made last year! You can see the post on how to ruche your side panel here. Underneath my hoodie is the Greenstyle Staple tank in cotton lycra.

I hope you enjoy your Thanksgiving today!! Will you be getting extra sewing time? I will be getting to see family all day today, and I hope to hit up some Black Friday sales online afterwards. Then, when the house gets quiet, if I am not too exhausted, I will shut the door to my sewing room and finish up one of the several projects I have laid out (or maybe finish binge watching the Crown?)!
