I have been on a journey of sewing through some Greenstyle fabric so that I can review it, test it, live in it, and let you know what I think. It is quite a fun adventure because work out clothes are so easy to sew up and seem to dominate my closet anyways.

For today’s post, I have three fabrics bases that are new to me to talk to you about as well as just an update on my life and season.

The Tank Fabric

I used the Greenstyle Fine Lines fabric for my tank. I wore a black bra underneath because I was taking photos of another project and forgot to bring a different bra. Whoops! This fabric comes in 4 different colors and the white is the more stable of the 4 (read: not much drape). The pink has the softest hand and most drape.

I found knotting my tank helped to cinch the waist more with this more stable white fabric. I think this fabric would also make really good accent pieces on a pair of athletic tights. It is pretty comfortable to wear and lighter weight.

I used the same fabric as my binding, and this fabric has AMAZING recovery. This means that I had to calculate my bindings at 95%. I did my first armscye at 90%, and it was so bunched and puckered that I ripped it out and recalculated.

If you need help with bindings, you can watch my video for single fold binding and double fold binding. I used double fold on this tank and made another one after this with single fold. Both methods worked beautifully with this fabric but DO NOT FORGET to calculate your own bindings with this fabric.

The Tank Pattern

I made a Greenstyle Lacy Slope tank*, but I straightened the hemline so that it doesn’t have a slope. I like the ease in this pattern for when I want to be able to knot my tank. It is the tank with the most coverage (through the neck, shoulders, back) of all the Greenstyle tanks. I have made it several times in different fabrics, and it is always a favorite that I go back to over and over again. I almost love it as much as the staple tank.

The Tights Fabric

I used the Greenstyle Luxe fabric for the main part of my tights and used the Perfo-tek Supplex in Fuschia for the side accent and pockets.

The Luxe is the base I did not know I would love so much. It is squishy, stretchy, and comfortable. It has just enough recovery to hold me in, but I don’t feel squished. I can jump all around in these tights, and they don’t budge, which is really nice since I don’t put elastic in the waist of my tights. It is not slippery or cold feeling like swim but not warm like cotton lycra. It is a true performance fabric and is amazing at wicking sweat and staying dry. The Luxe fabric is on sale through the 10th, so if you have considered trying it, now is the time to grab some!

The Perfo-tek Supplex feels lighter weight and shows more lumps and bumps in my opinion. You can see the outline of my hand really well through it and any line or seam underneath it. Thankfully, I wore my No Show Briefs* underneath my tights or you would have seen any other style of panty I was wearing through the Perfo-tek. The Perfor-tek is a little more slinky feeling than the other fabrics in this post.

The Tights Pattern

I used my trusty Super G pattern* for this one. It has my absolute favorite method of constructing pockets on athletic tights, fits like a glove, and has a wonderful high waist. I made an XS for my hips and grade out to a small for the rest of my legs. The measurements for the thigh and hip are printed on the pattern and not with the size chart, so always check those before printing.

It also a gusset like none other.

My daughter was the one directing my photoshoot, and she gave me some great ideas on how to not be so boring.

Life

Life at the moment has been super full. We started a homeschool coop this year, and even though it is just one day a week, I am absolutely exhausted at the end of that day, and I have to spend quite some time preparing to teach beforehand. The kids are loving it, and we are making new friends so we are really happy with the choice to go. I have an ever greater, new found respect for teachers who do this 5 days a week!

I also notice when the season changes and days begin to get shorter that I seem to stay in bed just a little longer. I haven’t been able to pull the late nights like I did a lot this summer. I find myself craving more down time, and I am honoring my bodies request for that.

I have spent some of that downtime watching Outlander, catching up on grading, and spending more time outdoors with the kids. Once I publish this post, we are heading out on a long walk. Long adventure walks are one of the best ways to build and keep bones strong and to keep your … ahem .. lower parts nice and tight and back to their pre-baby normal self, which is great after having multiple pregnancies (that and squatting… lots of squatting!).

Thanks for stopping by today! I would love to stay connected with you. You can find me on Instagram. If you want to take a look into the things that inspire me, you can follow me on Pinterest. You may also follow my blog with Bloglovin.

I am midway through Season 2 and can’t wait to start on the audio books. I think it would be awesome for sewing. When did you start the books? After the show? Before? At what point do you think its better to hop on over to the books?
