Yesterday, I was working in my garden in the front yard, and it started pouring rain. I had just finished digging a big ole hole and was beginning to add compost and mix it around with our existing hard clay soil. But, ya’ll, it just was pouring. I quickly tried to finish what I was working on and then noticed one of my daughters was holding an umbrella over my head (what a sweetie!!) It was too late, though, I was soaked!!

I pulled my bags of compost and shovels in the garage and washed all the mud off my hands and arms. It was in the middle of a homeschool day, and my break to do yard work was short so I just left my wet clothes on and yelled, “Let’s get back to working on school!” to the kids.

Thankfully, I was wearing my latest pair of Inspire tights and Power Sports bra with fabric from The Styled Magnolia. The owner, Meagan, sent me a yard of this yoga base fabric last month to try out and tell her what I think about it and test it out.

The top I was wearing at the time of the downpour, unfortunately, was not a top made in an athletic knit. It was a black cotton tank. After about 5 minutes of being inside and working with the kids, I noticed my top was still soaked, but my bra and tights were as dry as could be! Sadly, my all cotton undies were also still soaked and that felt super strange!

Anyways, here is the shorter version of the story: I have been wearing this new yoga fabric a ton and absolutely love it! I don’t feel hot in it. I really don’t feel it at all. It feels like a thicker stable swim to me. Unlike swim, though, it is not slippery and stays up really well. It is not thin so I don’t have to put away my granny panties. It is also super stretchy. It is so stretchy that I put my left overs from that yard to use on a pair of Super G tights.

The Super G tights are more compressive than the Inspires so I really only use fabric on the Super G pattern that I think has excellent stretch and recovery. Not all athletic knits are alike and if a fabric doesn’t have that full 75% stretch or more in BOTH directions, I know I will regret it.

I LOVE how it turned out. I am hoping Meagan continues to carry this base as well. I think this will be my preferred base in the warmer months.

Until I received this fabric from Meagan, I really didn’t see the need for another athletic base. I adored the Supplex she offers for customs (nylon/spandex), and can’t stop wearing the Athletic Brushed Polyester (a polyester/spandex base). BUT this wiggled it’s way in and has won my heart as well. I am planning to do a comparison post on all three soon, but it is going to be hard. I also think I need to do more field testing when Texas really cranks up the heat in a few months.

Here is my Power Sports Bra! I have made a dozen of these and still need more! I have gotten to where I just wear them all the time. They are comfortable nursing bras that I can jump around in and that don’t make me look completely smooshed down.

And they have a cute back view 🙂
