The New Horizons Cascade Tee for Girls has been on my list of tops to sew ever since the pattern came out. I absolutely adore the cascading flounce detail and knew it would be a quick pattern to sew for my daughter. Over the past month, I have made her three: a basic tank, a tank with a flounce, and a short sleeved top with a flounce. The basic tank was worn so quickly that I knew I needed to make her more. I was able to grab photos of the next two that I made her, and I am so happy to see her wearing clothes that I have made for her!
The first top I want to show you is made with this adorable panel from Zenith and Quasar. The fabric is an athletic brushed poly and says “We are the MUSIC MAKERS and we are the DREAMERS of dreams.” This quote is the opening line in Arthur O’Shaughnessy’s “Ode” from Music and Moonlight, but most of us recognize it from Willy Wonka.
The coordinate has lots of cute sayings and symbols on it. I homeschool Abby, and we love the opportunity that homeschooling gives her to explore her interests, to dream, and to be creative. She tells me that she wants to be an actress when she grows up. She already loves to write skits out for her and her siblings and friends to act out. I love seeing her creativity and to watch her dream.
This Cascade Tee was made with the tank option, and I used the coordinate to finish the arm bands on the tank. I was surprised that I was able to get an entire size 10 tank out of one small panel set! I had the tiniest scraps left when I was finished. I was really happy with how nicely the tank came together and now will need to start adding more New Horizons patterns to our wardrobe.
The next tee that I want to show you is the short sleeve version with the flounce. I used a double brushed polyester fabric from Syncerely Rylee that I made a dress for myself out of here and a tunic for her sister out of here. I may even still have some left to make the baby something!
Abby gives this tee a big thumbs up!
The fabric that I used from Zenith and Quasar is currently on preorder through July 31. It can be ordered here.
