When Hannah was 3 months old, I signed her up to be a model for a pattern test for the sweetest little hoodie set by See Kate Sew. Kate, the designer, is pregnant and was in her first trimester at the time, so the pattern did not release until just yesterday.
I remember that first trimester exhaustion and am glad she did not rush with this pattern, and I love all the hard work she put into this adorable little set! Since these photos were from last month, Hannah has gotten a little chubbier since then, but it is so sweet to go back and look at how much she is changing!
The Pattern: The Gemini Baby Hoodie + Joggers Set
The size range on the Gemini set is newborn to 24 months. Hannah was 3 months and measured for the 3-6 month size. This is also what she is wearing in ready to wear sizes. It has faux pockets on the pants and a real kangaroo pocket on the top. I definitely plan on making the top for her when she is toddling around. That Kangaroo pocket will be a fun place to store toys. The hood comes with the option of bear ears or cat ears. I did the bear ears on this one and they turned out so cute! After this set, Kate changed the way the hood connects in the front so that it is farther away from the babies mouth and gives them more room in the neck area. She also gave it a little more length to cover more of those cute baby bellies. The drafting and instructions made the pattern really easy and rather quick to sew together. I think this set would make an awesome baby shower gift!
Fabric
I used a Zenith and Quasar plush brushed poly for the main print. It has about 40% 4 way stretch and is super soft. I just love how cuddly she feels in this fabric. It feels like minky without all the fuzz and weight. I used a stretchier cotton lycra Lucky Stars print by Sarah Jane for the coordinating pink. I just love how the pink and grey look together on her. She is laying on one of my quilts that I made and blogged about here. Taking photos was pretty hard because she doesn’t quite sit still. I think she has gotten easier to photograph since these photos. I guess modeling is hard work!
