I think it would be an easy adjustment! You will want to get a separating jacket zipper. The length of the zipper would be 2.5 inches + the length of the center front of the bodice pattern piece. Then, you would cut the bodice in half down the center front and install your zipper like a traditional jacket zipper, using the same instructions in the pattern for the hood or collar.

Thanks! The trim I was referring to shows on the front. Two binding strips. I don’t have a good method to do this, but here is a picture showing what I mean, the blue binding in this picture:

Hi Aimee! Yes, you can make the box wider. Zipper teeth can be different widths so you will want to adjust to have the amount of zipper tape showing that you prefer! Should I just stay stitch the “box” wider, like 1/4″ instead of 1/8″ from center front? Also have you ever added trim to the sides of the zipper like RTW?
