It is time for back to school sewing! Raspberry Creek just released their fall prints, and I am so excited that I got a chance to sew them up. For today’s post, I have all the pink, mustard, and floral goodness to show, and watch out for part 2 where I got to have a lot of fun with prints for my sons!

Even though it is still 100 degrees outside, I am already dreaming of fall sewing projects. I think fall colors are some of my favorites to sew with too, and when I saw the colors in this watercolor floral, I literally screeched.

I got two yards of the floral and was able to get something for me and two of my daughters out of it! I paired it with the mustard random dots, which I only got half a yard of and used everything but a few strings of!

Let’s talk about what I made!

The Green Tee

The Green Tee from Greenstyle Creations is my favorite basic t shirt pattern. The fit is just spot on for me and I wear the ones I make all the time. The instructions are very thorough, and I feel that even someone very knew to sewing could pick this FREE pattern up and make an awesome t shirt. As far as sizing, I made this one a size up from my measurements to get a looser more t shirt like fit. If I make one exactly to my measurements, it is a bit more of a fitted top for me.

I think this is going to be my favorite shirt to wear this fall, especially since the beginning of Texas fall weather is generally not cold.

Sofiona Aurora Raglan

I love a good basic raglan for showing off coordinates with a print, and I was so excited to try out the Aurora raglan by Sofiona Designs.

I am trying to get ahead of the game for my cold weather sewing for my kids, so I made the oldest a long sleeved version. I also really wanted to make those tall cuffs to show off more of that floral. The best part of this pattern in my opinion are these adorable shoulder ties! I made this top exactly to the size her measurements went with and drew a gentle curve to grade out for her hips as her measurements needed.

When my daughter tried on her top for me to check fit, she immediately squealed and said “Mom, can you make me another one. Please!!” She loved the pops of pink on the sleeves and the feminine but not babyish design of the top. She is getting more picky to sew for because she doesn’t want to look kid like, and I was so relieved and excited to see how much she loved this shirt.

Simple Life Pattern Company Aria’s Bow Back Dress

I have wanted to make an Aria for quite sometime, and I am so glad I finally made one for the baby. The instructions on this pattern are great, and I feel like this dress is something I would buy in a boutique. I think the most consuming part of sewing this was the ruffle at the bottom of the circle skirt. I felt like it would never end!!

I used the kids pattern and made her a 2T. There is also a baby pattern available, but since she is between the two. I knew I would have a lot more room for growth in the girls pattern. She is 19 months at the moment, and her closet is full of clothes for this summer so I wanted to sew for her for the winter. At the rate she grows, she will fit in it just perfect as our weather turns cooler.

I love the sleeve options on this pattern! I did the rolled hem on my serger to finish these, and it made them pretty quick. I think if I wanted this dress to go quicker I would have done that on the bottom ruffle instead of hemming.
