<h3>The Pattern Details</h3>
<p>The <a href="https://wardrobebyme.com/products/akinori-kimono-dress?ref:MTgxMTYuMzUzLjE3MTQ5LlQ">Akinori</a> is a quick dress pattern to sew considering you have no separate sleeve piece. The wide dolman sleeves are roomy and comfortable. The front of the bodice has pleats that attach to a front detail. The ties attach to the front detail as well and wrap around your body and can be tied in the front or back of your dress. The tie helps to cinch in the otherwise shapeless waist. The front is daringly low and easy to breastfeed in, but not so low that I feel exposed.</p>
<p><img data-recalc-dims="1" decoding="async" width="750" height="1125" class="alignnone size-full wp-image-2027" alt="Wardrobe by Me Akinori" src="https://i0.wp.com/sweetmamalife.com/wp-content/uploads/2019/07/DSC_0032e.jpg?resize=750%2C1125&#038;ssl=1" srcset="https://i0.wp.com/sweetmamalife.com/wp-content/uploads/2019/07/DSC_0032e.jpg?w=3783&amp;ssl=1 3783w, https://i0.wp.com/sweetmamalife.com/wp-content/uploads/2019/07/DSC_0032e.jpg?resize=200%2C300&amp;ssl=1 200w, https://i0.wp.com/sweetmamalife.com/wp-content/uploads/2019/07/DSC_0032e.jpg?resize=768%2C1152&amp;ssl=1 768w, https://i0.wp.com/sweetmamalife.com/wp-content/uploads/2019/07/DSC_0032e.jpg?resize=683%2C1024&amp;ssl=1 683w, https://i0.wp.com/sweetmamalife.com/wp-content/uploads/2019/07/DSC_0032e.jpg?w=1500&amp;ssl=1 1500w, https://i0.wp.com/sweetmamalife.com/wp-content/uploads/2019/07/DSC_0032e.jpg?w=2250&amp;ssl=1 2250w" sizes="(max-width: 750px) 100vw, 750px" /></p>
<h3>Adjustments</h3>
<p>The <a href="https://wardrobebyme.com/products/akinori-kimono-dress?ref:MTgxMTYuMzUzLjE3MTQ5LlQ">Akinori pattern</a> is drafted for someone much taller than me, so I removed 2 inches of length from the skirt pattern. My torso is usually the same as an average person in sewing patterns, so it is typical for me to only remove length from the skirt or bottoms of an outfit and not need adjustments to the top. I was glad to see this was the case as well in this pattern because removing length from a skirt felt much easier than removing from the bodice.</p>
<p><img data-recalc-dims="1" decoding="async" width="750" height="500" class="alignnone size-full wp-image-2028" alt="Wardrobe by Me Akinori" src="https://i0.wp.com/sweetmamalife.com/wp-content/uploads/2019/07/DSC_0071e.jpg?resize=750%2C500&#038;ssl=1" srcset="https://i0.wp.com/sweetmamalife.com/wp-content/uploads/2019/07/DSC_0071e.jpg?w=6000&amp;ssl=1 6000w, https://i0.wp.com/sweetmamalife.com/wp-content/uploads/2019/07/DSC_0071e.jpg?resize=300%2C200&amp;ssl=1 300w, https://i0.wp.com/sweetmamalife.com/wp-content/uploads/2019/07/DSC_0071e.jpg?resize=768%2C512&amp;ssl=1 768w, https://i0.wp.com/sweetmamalife.com/wp-content/uploads/2019/07/DSC_0071e.jpg?resize=1024%2C683&amp;ssl=1 1024w, https://i0.wp.com/sweetmamalife.com/wp-content/uploads/2019/07/DSC_0071e.jpg?resize=360%2C240&amp;ssl=1 360w, https://i0.wp.com/sweetmamalife.com/wp-content/uploads/2019/07/DSC_0071e.jpg?w=1500&amp;ssl=1 1500w, https://i0.wp.com/sweetmamalife.com/wp-content/uploads/2019/07/DSC_0071e.jpg?w=2250&amp;ssl=1 2250w" sizes="(max-width: 750px) 100vw, 750px" /></p>
<h3>Sizing</h3>
<p>I made a size 4 based on my bust. My waist is a size 4 as well, but my hips actually fit the size 2. I did not grade down though and just went with a straight size 4 based on my bust.</p>
<p><img data-recalc-dims="1" loading="lazy" decoding="async" width="750" height="1125" class="alignnone size-full wp-image-2031" alt="Wardrobe by Me Akinori" src="https://i0.wp.com/sweetmamalife.com/wp-content/uploads/2019/07/DSC_0113e.jpg?resize=750%2C1125&#038;ssl=1" srcset="https://i0.wp.com/sweetmamalife.com/wp-content/uploads/2019/07/DSC_0113e.jpg?w=4000&amp;ssl=1 4000w, https://i0.wp.com/sweetmamalife.com/wp-content/uploads/2019/07/DSC_0113e.jpg?resize=200%2C300&amp;ssl=1 200w, https://i0.wp.com/sweetmamalife.com/wp-content/uploads/2019/07/DSC_0113e.jpg?resize=768%2C1152&amp;ssl=1 768w, https://i0.wp.com/sweetmamalife.com/wp-content/uploads/2019/07/DSC_0113e.jpg?resize=683%2C1024&amp;ssl=1 683w, https://i0.wp.com/sweetmamalife.com/wp-content/uploads/2019/07/DSC_0113e.jpg?w=1500&amp;ssl=1 1500w, https://i0.wp.com/sweetmamalife.com/wp-content/uploads/2019/07/DSC_0113e.jpg?w=2250&amp;ssl=1 2250w" sizes="auto, (max-width: 750px) 100vw, 750px" /></p>
<h3>Fabric</h3>
<p>The fabric I used is a mystery woven that I found at Wherehouse Fabric Dallas last summer. It feels stable like a cotton lawn, but is shifty and uncooperative like a rayon so I estimate that it is some kind of blend. The pattern recommends a fabric that is lightweight, and the designer said her favorite fabric to use was a light cotton voile.</p>
<p><img data-recalc-dims="1" loading="lazy" decoding="async" width="750" height="500" class="alignnone size-full wp-image-2030" alt="" src="https://i0.wp.com/sweetmamalife.com/wp-content/uploads/2019/07/DSC_0079e.jpg?resize=750%2C500&#038;ssl=1" srcset="https://i0.wp.com/sweetmamalife.com/wp-content/uploads/2019/07/DSC_0079e.jpg?w=6000&amp;ssl=1 6000w, https://i0.wp.com/sweetmamalife.com/wp-content/uploads/2019/07/DSC_0079e.jpg?resize=300%2C200&amp;ssl=1 300w, https://i0.wp.com/sweetmamalife.com/wp-content/uploads/2019/07/DSC_0079e.jpg?resize=768%2C512&amp;ssl=1 768w, https://i0.wp.com/sweetmamalife.com/wp-content/uploads/2019/07/DSC_0079e.jpg?resize=1024%2C683&amp;ssl=1 1024w, https://i0.wp.com/sweetmamalife.com/wp-content/uploads/2019/07/DSC_0079e.jpg?resize=360%2C240&amp;ssl=1 360w, https://i0.wp.com/sweetmamalife.com/wp-content/uploads/2019/07/DSC_0079e.jpg?w=1500&amp;ssl=1 1500w, https://i0.wp.com/sweetmamalife.com/wp-content/uploads/2019/07/DSC_0079e.jpg?w=2250&amp;ssl=1 2250w" sizes="auto, (max-width: 750px) 100vw, 750px" /></p>
<p>What do you think of this dress? Do I need to sew more blue? If you have followed my blog for long, you know I love to sew with warm colors &#8211; pink, red, yellow, orange, and everything in between seems to be what I gravitate to, especially this summer.</p>
