I am so excited to be on today’s stop of the Raspberry Creek Suit Up for Summer Blog Tour! I made swimsuits for my three daughters as well as myself and am going to tell you all about them. Hopefully it brings some inspiration and brightness to your day!

My Swimsuit

For my swimsuit, I made the Greenstyle North Shore high rise swim bottoms and paired them with the Greenstyle Clara Wrap Top. The fabric I used is the the Micro Stripe Swim Fabric from Raspberry Creek.

Last summer, I found out about my love for rash guards and wore them every chance I got in the pool, especially if I knew I was swimming during the sunniest parts of the day. For as fair-skinned as I am, you would think I would have embraced them much younger in life! I knew I needed another one for this season, and I wanted to try using a wrap pattern as a rashie.

Pattern Adjustments

I immediately shortened one of the ties on the Clara Wrap pattern because I only had one yard of fabric to work with, and I needed to be able to get sleeves AND a pair of bottoms. Since one tie is short, I only wrap the long one around my body, and I leave the short one there to tie it with.

I made my measured size on the pattern, and when I first tried it on, the only area that I was not as satisfied with was the bust. My chest sizes is a bit different (um, smaller) in a swimsuit without a bra, so I had to make a slight small bust adjustment to the pattern as well as wear a swim top underneath. The swim top I am wearing underneath is one I made in the North Shore Swimsuit sew along last year.

It makes sense that breast fullness/size can change based on the bra you are wearing and that your back, arms, and shoulders would remain the same. That, and I am not quite 20 anymore! Anyways, here is what my adjustment looks like. The bottom part is my bodice, and the top fabric is my tie that attaches to it. After this photo, I cut off that triangle portion from the bottom of the bodice starting at the dart. This gave me less fabric, and a tighter fit through the wrap part. If you are a c or d cup without the help of a bra, then you will not need this adjustment 🙂

I did not make any adjustments to the North Shore bottoms. They are my FAVE style. The high rise holds my stomach in so nicely! You can watch me sew them here

For my youngest and oldest daughter’s, I made the Made for Mermaids Lainey Swimsuit pattern. It is a cute off the shoulder style and includes a lower rise bottoms.

The pattern includes the option for ruffles on the bottom and along the neckline, but my daughter wanted hers without any frills. I am glad she did because I probably would not have had the fabric left over to do it after cutting her suit from half of a yard! I used Raspberry Creek’s brushed stroke striped fabric for my oldest daughter’s suit.

For my middle daughter, I made the Striped Swallow Into the Blue Swimsuit. This was her favorite suit that I made her last year, so she was adamant that I make her another one!  She loved the Narwhal Swim print that I used for her suit!

The girls had so much fun playing by the pool, even if it was a little cold.

Playing around the pool was a happy time for us, and I realized how hard it has been for all of us to feel so cooped up! I need to come up with some more ways to pass the time while we stay home.

So far, we have been going on walks most days, eating all of our meals at home together, and reading lots of books. My husband spends a lot of time throwing the ball with the boys, and my kids have been skating a lot in our cul de sac. I seriously cannot wait until the water in the pool warms up enough for us to JUMP in!

After writing down all these happy activities, I still can’t shake my sadness with the crisis happening to the world at the moment. I pray I can continue to be a light and a source of a smile to my blog readers and that I can find joy in the midst of such a difficult time. I seriously am just disappointed with how some of our leaders are handling this, and I pray that my fears for my state and my country do not come to pass. I hope I have inspired you.

I hope I have inspired you and that you are well! Don’t forget to check out all the other inspiring bloggers on the tour! Also, you can use the code SWIMTOUR for 15% off swim fabric at Raspberry Creek this week!

Y’all’s suits look so good!! I love how a lot of the prints from RCF coordinate well in color scheme without matching for a cohesive look. I’m definitely looking forward to sunnier days, but the only pool we had access to was my best friend’s…and well, with social distancing and whatnot…you get the picture.

Love this post so much, though 🙂
