Welcome to Day 5 of the Great Tank Sew Along. Today, we are working on the Greenstyle Muscle Up Tank again, but this time I am sewing one for myself and showing you how to sew the hood!

As much as my husband loves the Muscle Up Tank and wears the ones I make him all the time, I also adore this pattern too. For sizing, I make the XS. My bust ranges between 32.5 and 33 so I am technically between sizes and just pick the smaller size. You can still see that it is a relaxed fit, and I love how comfortable it is to wear and to work out in.

I love the three piece hood on this pattern! Yesterday I covered how to sew the tank portion of this pattern, and for today’s video, I am showing you how to sew the hood! You can find today’s video HERE. If you missed yesterday’s video on how to sew the body of the muscle up tank, you can find that HERE.

In today’s video, I demonstrate how to sew buttonholes for the drawstring. If you prefer grommets, use the 1/4 inch grommets. I have a video showing how to do the grommets from the Pacific Pullover Sew Along. You can see how the grommets and the facing are done in that video starting at 7:54.

The Fabric

I used grey cupro jersey from So Sew English. The recovery on this fabric is very tight, so I had to add 2 inches to each armband to keep them from bunching and puckering. I noticed it after applying the band the first time, ripped it off, and recalculated it at a little over 90%.

The Shorts

Of course, I had to make another pair of Moxi Shorts to go with my tank. I love these shorts, and this Stretch Chiffon from Joann is one of my favorite fabrics for them. If chiffon is too lightweight for you, Joanns has plenty of other stretch wovens in their silky solids collection, just look on the bolt and confirm that the woven fabric has spandex, and it will work! I was so surprised at how many really nice stretch woven fabrics they had on my last visit. I have to admit that I grabbed a few more!
